India's National Wildlife Week
A playful baby elephant stands proudly on grassy meadows, raising its front foot in a cheerful wave beside a blossoming oak tree. Two delicate butterflies flutter among giant daisies and radiant sunflowers under a clear, sunlit autumn sky. India celebrates National Wildlife Week annually from October 2 to 8, a conservation initiative established in 1957 by the Indian Board for Wildlife. Across national parks and sanctuaries, children and communities learn the importance of preserving critical habitats and protecting iconic endangered animals, from the majestic Asian elephant to the Royal Bengal tiger.
